A Cold Day, illustration from Children of Our Town

Another commission from Nicki and one of a series cut from the illustrations of the book ‘Children of Our Town’, verses by Caroline Wells (1902). The 400pc push-fit jigsaw with interlocking edge has two raised areas – the poem and the little girl hurrying past the children playing in the snow. The 2-part whimsy dog Rufus watches her from the pavement. Nicki has numbered it no 154 in her collection of Amber puzzles.
Howard Smeeton has also cut this design in 2015, possibly from Rob’s spare prints supplied by Nicki. (See also HS Puzzles Quarrelsomeness from 2015.)
