The Egg Dance

A very interesting wide jigsaw cut for Nicki Barker. It was first assembled in Dec 2009 and sold on in 2016. Cut in the earlet style with extensive line-cutting, many internal edges and corners, some split knobs and his characteristic elbow-shaped pieces. The most novel feature is the way extra ply has been sanded to make the dancer's leg rise smoothly out of the surface of the jigsaw. Rob has included his usual whimsies - R, a heart and his dog Rufus, plus a clog.
The Dutch Mannerist painting of 1552 by Pieter Aertsen hangs in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. Heavy with symbolism, it features a popular game played during the springtime folk festivities.
The jigsaw is housed in a circular gift box, with some completion dates inside the lid.
