Haystacks & Rising Moon

Genest cut a pair of very large jigsaw in this style which two Flickr friends assembled as a group project (1156pc Vanity by Frank Cadogan Cowper). The Van Gogh painting is a much smaller, 434pc jigsaw measuring 27x21cm, with the same ‘wormy’ cut with a random edge. The back looks rather like the surface of a brain! This is the third copy from a stack of three, cut in Autumn 2020.

I built the jigsaw from the top down. It is a significant challenge - 8minutes before I made a single match and the whole took me 15hrs 40min.

Genest said he felt quite restricted by this cutting style "... the cutter has no freedom to go here and there: each piece must be shaped like a worm… However, I like to cut this way and I think I'll do it again, if I found appropriate artwork.
