A Rose From Armida's Garden

This is the first jigsaw I (Jackie Armstrong) received from Terry. It was a gift, an experimental 263pc puzzle from an artist I chose. The mixed cut, which had me puzzled for a long while until the scheme dawned on me, is a mixture of a large Tudor rose with an interlocking long-arm surround. The box has a reference 373.

The image was painted by Marie Spartali Stillman, one of the 'three graces' from the London Greek community in Victorian Pre-Raphaelite Art Circles. (She also posed for Rossetti and Burne-Jones.)
It is called 'A Rose from Armida's Garden'. The story of Armida, a Saracen sorceress and Rinaldo, a soldier in the First Crusade, was created by the Renaissance Italian poet Torquato Tasso.
