River Pathway

220 piece plywood jigsaw puzzle, estimated to be of c1910-20 manufacture, cut in a semi-interlocking style and featuring an unsigned panoramic format painting.

Although categorised here in the dedicated "Latest Craze" album, this is a somewhat generic brand name probably associated with London manufacturer William Peacock. The same style of box packaging, cutting, piece count and labelling can be seen on the puzzle "Fruit Blossom" which was retailed through the Hamley's store.

In this instance we have a puzzle branded for sale through "Stair & Adnams", of 23 Westborough, Scarborough. The firm, which operated as a partnership between John Edward Adnams and his wife Julia Hyatt Adnams (née Stair), were listed as a fancy goods dealer, a partnership which was dissolved on 22nd December 1923.
