Cottage
250-piece plywood jigsaw puzzle, with familiar interlocking border and colour line-cut selection of push-fit and semi-interlocking pieces forming the remainder.
This puzzle proved significantly easier to assemble than the "Mars et Venus" puzzle by this same French manufacturer. As this was a factory sealed puzzle when I received it, it was amusing to find an extra piece in the box! The back of the plywood board had been covered in yellow paper, a policy regularly utilised by France's most prolific brand, that of "Puzzle Vera". This is understood to have been a method employed to avoid mixing pieces up whilst stack-cutting more than one puzzle at a time.
nb. The extra piece had a green backing, so presumably another example existed with this piece missing! Maybe their quality control was a little suspect.
The artist is recorded on the box label as being "J. Mathews", with a single "t", but I think this most likely refers to the British 19th century artist James Matthews.
The puzzle is contained in a sturdy white card box with a smaller scale colour guide picture on the lid.
