Meadow Stream, The

28 piece plywood jigsaw puzzle, estimated to be of c1915 manufacture, cut in a semi-interlocking style with one simple figural shape, itself cut into two pieces. The puzzle is housed in a sturdy red box with lift-off lid. The lid carries a pasted on details label and inside the lid is a price list for puzzles ranging from 50-1000 pieces. No mention of this smaller size!

Identical lid label design also features on this W.G. Evans branded puzzle, helping to support the likely connections between the brands.

The painting, whilst being unsigned, shows a partial Raphael Tuck's "Oilette" logo in the lower right corner. My belief is that Tuck's were the manufacturers of these little puzzles.
