Flying Scotchman, The
This is my first example of an Alma branded jigsaw puzzle and production is thought to have been very limited. This example is entitled The Flying Scotchman and features a painting by the British artist Ellis Luciano Silas. In it he has brilliantly captured the lighting from the fire where it has illuminated the stoker and underside of the smoke trail, also the light coming from the carriages whilst the remainder of the train is only faintly detailed against the night sky. The print is believed to date from the 1920's.
The Interesting legend on the box lid has further manifested itself on the puzzle piece backs, where each has been hand-numbered, with an error in the identification of piece numbers 3 and 5 which were reversed.
