Check at the Cross Roads, A

High quality plywood jigsaw puzzle, cut in the fully interlocking style and incorporating 35 figural shapes, mostly of a countryside/equine nature. Whilst branded as "Fortnum and Mason", this puzzle, much like the identically packaged Post and Rails example, shows almost certain origins from Raphael Tuck & Sons factory, cut to their flagship "Zag-Zaw" standard.

The puzzle features a high quality print, mounted on thick plywood backing board and comes housed in a stylish faux fur-look paper covered box with hinge lid and lining paper, again much like that used by Tuck's in their "Zag-Zaw" range. The box carries a printed "Fortnum & Mason" branded base label with printed details text and handwritten title, artist and piece count entries.

The painting is by the British artist Charles Walter Simpson (1885-1971).
