Salmon, H.

Early 20th century brand of wooden jigsaw puzzles, probably only a short term venture as very few examples have ever shown up. The first example shown here, complete with figural shaped pieces, is very similar in style to those cut by the Zig-Zag company and was almost certainly produced by them.

Whether H. Salmon is in any way related to the renowned manufacturer J. Salmon & Co Ltd., is not currently known. Having found c1909 postcard information quoting H. Salmon as being publishers, it seems unlikely that there is any jigsaw related connection, given that J. Salmon did not start producing puzzles until around 1920.
