Dante's Dream

Alas, the wooden box for this stunning mahogany puzzle was ravaged by woodworm, although the partial label remaining helps date this as one of Holtzapffel's earliest puzzles, placing it between 1907 and 1910.
The painting by the English artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti, has been carefully cut along many of its colour borders into small sections, each of which has then been cut into primarily interlocking pieces, the sections then pushing together to reform the image. The second image features the puzzle prior to some tlc!
