Quality Street

Very fine example of "Figure=it=Out" puzzle, cut in the period 1910-1922 and of solid mahogany construction, probably making it around 1915. It has been outline cut around the main subjects and in a semi-interlocking style.

The artwork, which carries the signature of the British artist Chas A. Buchel (1872-1950), originated as a promotional poster for London's Vaudeville Theatre's 1902 production of the J.M. Barrie stage play of the same name. This play slightly predated his most famous character creation of Peter Pan.
