Queen Mary, The

Widely used by some of the major manufacturers of the era, including Chad Valley, Victory and Valentine's amongst others, this Holtzapffel example surely stands out from the rest with its colour and flamboyant cutting style, typically full of accurate colour line-cutting and an incredibly high quality to the saw-lines.
The painting is by the maritime artist William McDowell and is thought to date from c1934. The box label address is that of Walker & Holtzapffel (Retail) Ltd, who occupied this Baker Street address from around 1932.
