Wedding Breakfast, The

An early wooden-boxed and solid mahogany-backed Holtzapffel jigsaw puzzle. The box label address of 53 Haymarket and reference to H.M. The King, help to place this puzzle in the era 1907-1910. Wooden boxes were available as an extra cost option when ordering Holtzapffel puzzles. Colour line-cutting is evident throughout this very fine puzzle. Take as an example the mirror on the wall above the bride, which is itself cut into six pieces with barely any indication of where they would fit into the puzzle as a whole.
