Railway Series

A rare series of twelve wooden puzzles on a railway theme believed to have been made in the mid 1920's.

The first eight had 30 pieces, selling for 1/- (5p) and the last four had 100 pieces, price unknown. Most were cut from 3-ply wood.

Pictures show scenes mainly pertaining to the GWR although the puzzles were not produced for them. Possibly this series was eclipsed by the well-known range of jigsaws made for the GWR by Chad Valley.

The puzzles were packed in small lift-off lidded boxes with just a generic picture on top and a list of subjects on the base.

Many thanks to Colin of the Culham Ticket Office who provided the information and photos of this series.
