David Copperfield

Early example of plywood jigsaw puzzle, which circulated in the 1940s-1960s before being retired. Although this particular puzzle is by an unidentified cutter, the same painting, by the artist Albert Ludovici Jnr., was also used by Tuck's in their "Dickens Coaching Series" of "Zag-Zaw" puzzles. In that series, this was listed as number 9, as seen on page 11 of this Dickens Centenary booklet.
The puzzle is cut in a combination of styles, largely semi-interlocking but with push-fit style applied across much of the main subject areas. Colour line cutting also featured widely.
