By Blue Waters-Amid the Snow and Ice

Fully interlocking and double-sided plywood jigsaw puzzle, from Peacock's "Toys to Teach" range.

Estimated to be of c1920s manufacture, the two pieces of artwork are very diversely themed. On the front side is an artistic depiction of American naval officer and polar explorer, Richard Evelyn Byrd Jnr.'s c1928 trip to Antarctica. Whilst the painting is unsigned it is known to be by the American artist Charles Relyea (1863-1932).
The reverse image features a painting in the classical art style, again unsigned but attributed to the American/Canadian artist/illustrator Robert Atkinson Fox (1860-1935).

The puzzle is housed in a very sturdy and stylish, faux reptile skin covered box with gold foil taped edges and gold coloured lettering and logo.
