Derby Winner

18-piece, double thickness plywood jigsaw puzzle in tray-style box, featuring the famous 1952 Derby winning horse Tulyar, owned by HH Aga Khan III and ridden by Charlie Smirke. Tulyar was the rider's third of his four Epsom Derby wins in a career spanning 38 years.

Some features on both horse and jockey are identified with lines of raised dots to assist the puzzler.

The painting is by the British artist Richard Anscomb from Newmarket, who painted numerous famous race horses of the era.

The organisation adopted the "Royal National Institute for the Blind" title in 1953, hence my date estimate of c1953-1954.
