R.M.S. Queen Elizabeth-(Version 1)

68-piece plywood jigsaw puzzle cut in the interlocking style and of two thicknesses.

The thicker part of the puzzle features the ships' hull and superstructure, whilst masts, rigging and background are on thinner ply. Portholes, windows, funnels and some wave crests are adorned with raised dots to aid assembly, along with a braille inscription on the white upper edge.

The box has the same catalogue number of 9476, whilst the print states "Printed in England B515".

This is believed to be the slightly earlier of the two versions featured here, its box covering being of a plain style as opposed to the patterned paper covering of what I believe to be the later version.

Update 12/04/2010. Following an email enquiry to the RNIB, their archive department has very kindly confirmed that this puzzle subject was advertised in their Annual Report from 31st March 1957 (Copy included).
