Uncertain title-Boy Blue and Girl

220 piece plywood jigsaw puzzle, housed in a Selfridges branded box with very indistinct label writing and estimated to be of c1920s manufacture. The puzzle is cut in a fully interlocking style and has been carefully cut around the characters.

This style of cutting was used by the Zig-Zag Puzzle company in the early 20th century under the identity of "The New Figure Zig-Zag Puzzle", so perhaps this puzzle was cut by them for the department store. See The Lovers to make comparison.

Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to identify the artwork used, but it may well have had its origins as promotional material for a stage play. Displayed courtesy of AH
