Sketching

300+ piece plywood jigsaw puzzle of unknown manufacturing origin, cut in a semi-interlocking style with abundant colour line-cutting.

The puzzle is housed in a "Bective Shoe Co," box and is thought likely to be of c1920s-1930s manufacture. It was probably made by an amateur cutter, using as artwork a painting by the British illustrator Frank Reynolds (1876-1953). His illustrations appeared widely in "Punch" magazine, so it is quite possible that the print featured here was taken from an issue.
