Untitled-Antoinette

Little is known about the origins of this spectacular plywood jigsaw puzzle but it is thought to be of early twentieth century manufacture. The stunning artwork is a high quality print reproduction of an important aviation painting by French poster artist Ernest Montaut. In the painting, aviation pioneer Hubert Latham is seen in his Antoinette monoplane in 1909.
The print is mounted on a sheet of plywood which appears to be of early origin. The cutter has accurately followed the subject area of the print, including the two spectators in the lower left which he has cleverly incorporated into the puzzle. The puzzle includes widespread colour line-cutting and features a non-interlocking style.
