Orphanage at Katwyck, The

This very originally cut plywood jigsaw puzzle is of uncertain manufacturing origins. It has considerable similarities with the J. Salmon Super-Cut series, with its combination of interlocking, semi-interlocking and entirely push-fit pieces. The cutting style used in the outer border though is very different, so here the similarities end. For its relatively compact size, the cutter has successfully created a very challenging puzzle indeed. I estimate the puzzle to be of c1920's-1930's origins.
The painting is by the Dutch artist David Adolf Constant Artz (1837-1890).
