King George V

The manufacturing origins of this fine promotional cardboard jigsaw puzzle are currently unknown, with no mention on the box or puzzle. It was released c1969-1970, to celebrate the restoration of the GWR locomotive 6000, so widely featured in other jigsaw puzzles closer to the time of its original arrival on the network in 1927. The artist was the great Terence Cuneo, signed August 1969 (lower left corner), presumably commissioned by H.P. Bulmer who funded its restoration in 1968. The box reverse also carries the company logo, along with advertising for its best known brand, that of their Woodpecker Cider
