Lincolnshire Chronicle and Leader, The
Fully interlocking plywood jigsaw puzzle promoting The Lincolnshire Chronicle and Leader using, as its artwork, a painting promoting the publication's 100th anniversary in 1933. The box style and actual jigsaw puzzle cutting both lead me to a conclusion that this puzzle was produced by Raphael Tuck in their Crazy-Cut style.
The artist, A Maculric was also responsible for a painting, that of "Young Ladies on Horseback", which sold at auction in 2018 at Lincoln Fine Art Sale, so perhaps a local artist! Several books from the 1940s-1950s, most notably that of Anna Sewell's Black Beauty also carry the name as illustrator.
Interestingly, the "Spread Eagle" pub on the right side of the painting, was at 301 High Street and known to have been present in 1612. It was then known as the "Black Spread Eagle", but was sold to make way for Woolworths in 1923.
