Landlords Birthday, The

This 400 piece plywood jigsaw puzzle features one of the British artist Margaret Dovaston's fine period interior scenes, many others of which can also be seen on the Jigasaurus.
Here the puzzle has been cut in an interlocking style and includes 24 Whimsies, or figural shaped pieces. Thought to have been cut around the 1950's, this example also features the interesting instance of a misplaced whimsy-piece. The pistol shape above the right-hand side of the table, clearly does not belong in this puzzle, although the shape itself does. This would have been brought about by the cutter, who probably had several puzzle boards stacked together for cutting, placed the wrong piece in the puzzle. Somewhere out there is likely to be another similarly-sized puzzle with the right piece in!
