"Arcadia", P&O Liner

c1950-1960's plywood jigsaw puzzle which assembles within its own tray style box and features a painting by the artist T.E. North, whose work was widely used in jigsaw puzzles from this era, as well as featuring in many books, mostly transport related such as the Timothy's series by Collins. The ship was launched in 1953 and operated mainly on the UK-Australia passenger service, although with the increased popularity of air travel, her roles became more diversified and she became a popular cruise ship from around 1965 until scrapped in 1979.
