Short-Mayo Composite Aircraft

This 250 piece interlocking jigsaw would have been produced at around about the time of the maiden flight of this historic plane, with its capability to deliver Trans-Atlantic mail, in 1938. Destined for a very short period in service, due mainly to the outbreak of war in 1939.
The upper component, Mercury, would be taken to operational height, by the larger plane, Maia, using their combined power, before being released to continue her journey with a hitherto unmanageable payload of c1000lb.
