13104. Royal Scot

A depiction of the 31p stamp in the Royal Mail's 'Famous Trains' issue in 1985 showing Coronation Class Lco no. 46243, City of Lancaster, pulling the Royal Scot. This train ran between London Euston and Glasgow Central and was the LMS equivalent to LNER's Flying Scotsman.

The loco was in service from 1938 until being scrapped in 1962. The Royal Scot name was given to the Euston/Glasgow service in 1927 and was withdrawn in 2003.
