De Luxe 500 Puzzles

The last series of puzzles marketed by Waddington's as an independent company between the mid 1980's and the late 1990's, that is before the company was sold to Hasbro.

From 1985 - 1989 in plain black-background boxes 10" square & 2" deep, some with a union jack motif.
From 1990 onwards in same-sized black-background boxes but with blue flecks (illustrated).

The box bases bear a black and white diagram of numbered items featured in each puzzle and a list of their names in several languages.

NB - Waddington's also sold many other puzzles at this time under the "De Luxe" brand.

Several circulars in previous ranges were re-numbered and re-boxed as "De Luxe" puzzles and are illustrated elsewhere in this list of 'Circulars':-

05161 - British Waders, as no. 516, cream & brown boxes.
05801 - Garden Flowers, as no. 580, ditto.
05931 - Wildfowl, as no. 516, 1972 series
05941 - Four Seasons, as no. 594, cream & brown boxes.
