Strange Rendezvous with War
This plywood puzzle features a fine Chas. Pears wartime painting of the February 1940 rescue by British Naval forces from HMS Cossack, of 299 British seamen from the German auxiliary ship Altmark in Jøssingfjord, Norway.
The box lid features a colour guide picture and quotes From a painting by CHAS. PEARS, R.O.I., for the Northern Aluminium Company Ltd. It also states Published by A.V.N. Jones and gives the title Strange Rendezvous with War.
The cutting style employed in this puzzle is that of the Chandos puzzles and is quite unlike the crude cutting lines of the puzzle Convoyed and Confident, despite being from the same series.
