No. 1. Discovery of Flight, The

This is the first puzzle from a series of four interlocking cardboard jigsaw puzzles issued by Welcom, probably in the c1930's-1940's era. The colourful artwork is by the illustrator P.A. Purton and has an inscription in the upper right quadrant which reads:
THE DISCOVERY OF FLIGHT-The first controlled flight (of 852 feet) by a man-carrying, power-driven aeroplane was made by Orville Wright at Dayton, U.S.A., in 1903, in a machine built by the brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright.
