Geevor Tin Mine-Basil & Scraggs

250-piece wooden jigsaw puzzle including fourteen "whimsies", or figural shaped pieces, almost exclusively feline in design.
Geevor Tin Mine near Pendeen in West Cornwall, still serves to this day as a reminder of the region's industrial past and is a must-visit place in this beautiful coastal part of Great Britain. The on-site café has a magnificent outlook over the mine workings and down to the coast path.
Basil & Scraggs were a pair of cats often seen around the mine and are now very popular characters in stories and paintings about the site. Here they feature in a charming and humorous painting from inside the mine workings, taken from the book "Basil & Scraggs go underground at Geevor", written by Pauline Sheppard and illustrated by Laura Elliott.
I bought this puzzle, along with a copy of the book, from the Geevor gift shop during a visit in 2009.
