When Duty Calls
350-piece solid mahogany jigsaw puzzle estimated to be of c1910-1915 manufacture and featuring a painting by British artist John White (1851-1933).
The cutting is something of an anomaly here, featuring a predominantly non-interlocking, or push-fit style with a relatively small number of interlocking pieces. This is unlike the majority of Zig-Zag puzzles from the era which tended to have a far more interlocking pattern to them. The puzzle includes five intricate figural shaped pieces, or whimsies.
Many thanks to NB for her supply of images and details for this unusual and very interesting puzzle.
