King Albert

The success of this range of Zig-Zag puzzles seems to have been very limited, with this example being my first exposure to it. Being of solid wood construction, the pieces were prone to breakage and once a piece broke in two, the upright intention became seriously compromised. Also, the very process of cutting the pieces, naturally took away some of the wood, which again led to the loose fitting of the pieces, acceptable in a traditional horizontally-planed jigsaw puzzle, but not so in a vertical one where the pieces are all trying to splay outwards (See last image).
This has led to these being a very scarce find in modern times.
Many thanks to Jan Knight for making the details and images of this example available to display.
A look at the Zig-Zag produced puzzles of C. Combridge on the back page of this 1916 price list, shows further details of the range, listing a further eight titles.
