Mosaïques

French brand of hand-cut wooden jigsaw puzzles, cut in a very similar style to those of the major Puzzle Michèle Wilson brand, who themselves appear to have modelled their main cutting styles in close alignment to those of France's best known manufacturer, Puzzle Vera.

Mosaïques are understood to have operated c1998-2006, from offices on Route de Chardonnay in the commune of Plottes, in Eastern France. All of the examples I have seen so far adopt a style of interlocking border pieces, with widespread colour line-cutting of both push-fit and semi-interlocking pieces making up the central area. This style closely mirrors that of the very similarly named "Mosaique" brand which operated c1960/70s and has its own dedicated album on the Jigasaurus. Click here for more details. Whether there is any connection between the two companies is not known.

They came housed in very good quality and sturdy white boxes with smaller scale colour guide pictures pasted on the box lids.
