Signing of the Constitution of the United States, The

300+ piece fully interlocking plywood jigsaw puzzle, housed in a cardboard box with highly patriotic paper covering, showing stars, stripes and a repeating logo of an eagle head within a "V" logo.

The 1937 painting is by the American artist/illustrator Howard Chandler Christy (1872-1952) and features a 150th anniversary depiction of the 1787 signing of the Constitution of the United States in Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Printed in the lower right corner, beneath the artist signature, is the following: "United States Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission". This appears to predate his better known c1939-1940 painting "Scene at the Signing of the Constitution of the United States", a huge 20 foot x 30 foot oil on canvas painting now displayed in the House of Representatives wing of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.

The box included a detailed key diagram and double-sided folded information leaflet about the painting and the scene/characterisations depicted within it.
