Straus, J.K.

A major American brand of wooden jigsaw puzzles established in 1933 by Joseph Straus and his wife and based in Brooklyn, New York. They initially specialised in manufacturing budget priced wooden puzzles with no line cutting or shaped pieces and packed in plain boxes. In 1957, after incorporation they branched out into more elaborate jigsaws with a variety of interesting shaped and figurative pieces.

The company closed in 1974 when the last family member retired.
